Breast Screening – Rural

According to the CDC, rural communities in America are experiencing a slower reduction in cancer death rates than urban areas. We know prevention, diagnosis and treatment options can be limited for patients living in rural areas. In fact, women living in rural areas are more likely to be diagnosed with late-stage breast cancer. Providers play an important role in promoting breast cancer screening for early detection and better outcomes. By talking with patients to understand the barriers preventing them from obtaining recommended screenings, providers can help connect patients to appropriate resources and increase breast cancer screening.
