WSHA staff and hospital members recently returned from Washington, D.C., after a successful trip advocating for hospitals during Rural Advocacy Days! Members representing seven hospitals made the trip and visited five congressional offices and staff from the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
This year’s top legislative priorities were avoiding cuts to hospitals, protecting and supporting rural labor and delivery services, and taking action on key policies set to expire, including telehealth flexibility, low-volume hospital payments and workforce programs. We felt our meetings with lawmakers made our voices heard, and drew attention to the concerns we have for rural health care and the ways our elected officials can support their local hospitals.
If your hospital serves a rural community and you didn’t get the chance to join us this year, we would love for you to join us in 2025! Thank you for your continuing efforts and advocacy for hospitals, and for the health care you provide.
Sincerely,
Jacqueline Barton True
WSHA Vice President, Advocacy and Rural Health
