After 18 months of work, WSHA will go live with standardized plain language emergency codes Oct. 1. Using plain language follows national best practices and allow personnel who work in multiple hospitals to respond quickly and appropriately to various safety, security and clinical incidents. WSHA worked with facility, clinical operations and emergency management professionals at member hospitals to arrange this transition. Use of the plain language codes is recommended but not required.
