Dr. Dale Reisner, who made great contributions to WSHA’s clinical excellence work and was instrumental in working with WSHA to create the Safe Deliveries Roadmap program, has passed away. Dr. Reisner was unwavering in her dedication to ensuring every birthing parent and every baby had the best outcomes possible. She was a leader in WSHA’s pioneering campaign to reduce early elective deliveries for healthier babies. We are saddened to learn about the loss of such a great health care advocate.
The Safe Deliveries Roadmap continues to carry on strongly. The Roadmap’s goal is to reduce preventable harm through promotion of evidence-based best practices bundles. The program has many partners, including the State Department of Health (DOH), Healthcare Authority (Medicaid), March of Dimes and the California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative (CMQCC). It has implemented state-wide learning collaboratives and improved key maternal and infant health metrics across hospitals, both urban and rural, since 2012.
