PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver is currently expanding its emergency department to better access to patient care for the community. The new department will have more patient rooms, modern amenities and more private healing environment with a space that is double the current size. It will also include a model to improve patient flow, reduce wait times and increase patient satisfaction.
The department’s second floor expansion will include a 24-bed observation unit to treat more patients immediately upon arrival and eliminate hallway treatments. The second floor will also include a community connections center with community partners to provide for social services addressing housing instability, substance use disorder treatment, food insecurity and more.
The medical center plans to conclude its construction work this summer. Read more from PeaceHealth. (Tim Pfarr)
