National organ donor registration coming to iPhone

iPhone users will be able to sign up as an organ, eye and tissue donor through the Health app with the release of iOS 10 this fall, Apple and Donate Life America announced July 5. The app’s Medical ID feature makes information such as medical conditions, allergies, medications, blood type and emergency contacts available to first responders in an emergency. Donor registrations made through Medical ID will be sent directly to the National Donate Life Registry managed by Donate Life America. AHA is a partner in Donate Life America, an alliance of national organizations and state teams committed to increasing the number of donated organs, eyes and tissue available for transplant.
