The Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement (CJR) Quality Metric analysis is intended to provide an estimate of the hospital’s performance using the composite scoring methodology described in the final program rules published by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Hospitals with higher scores have the opportunity to receive a quality incentive payment adjustment that will reduce the effective discount percentage applied when calculating reconciliation or repayment amounts. Quality scores are determined by the hospital’s performance, relative to the nation, on two measures:
- Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA) and/or Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) Complications Rate (NQF#1550)
- Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) Survey Measure (NQF #0166)
This analysis provides estimates of a hospital’s CJR composite quality score, CJR quality category, the effective discount percentage, and an estimate of whether the hospital would be eligible for reconciliation payments.
