Earlier this month, the Department of Health released their draft report on a proposed scope of practice increase for naturopathic physicians. The “sunrise review,” completed at the request of the Senate Health and Long Term Care Committee, found the proposed increase did not yet meet criteria laid out in state law. The applicant is the Washington Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
DOH is now requesting input on the draft recommendations. The deadline for input is Aug. 31. This is the last opportunity to comment before DOH finalizes the report and transmits it to the legislature.
WSHA previously submitted a letter in opposition to expansion, noting concerns about patient safety and insufficient education and training.
