Mental health is impacted by many things, and your physical environment is no exception. In this second week of Mental Health Awareness Month, Mental Health America (MHA) encourages you to consider how your physical environment can be optimized to support your mental health. One way to do this is by developing organization practices to keep your space tidy, since cluttered areas impact the brain’s ability to focus. Other suggestions include creating a calm, soothing area for relaxing, ensuring your sleeping area is free of distractions, and opening windows or using an air purifier to increase fresh air in your home. Please see the MHA website to learn more about creating a healthy home environment and how it supports positive mental health. (Brittany Weiner)
