June 1, WSHA submitted comments on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ Interim Final Rule regarding policy and payment changes to telehealth and other services due to the COVID-19 emergency. Comments were due June 1. An advance draft of the letter was provided to Government Affairs staff at member hospitals.
In its comments, WSHA urged CMS to continue the telehealth expansions beyond the end of the COVID emergency period. WSHA also asked CMS to address financial viability of telehealth for rural health clinics and clarify the responsibilities of hospitals when the patient’s home is deemed an outpatient department of the hospital for telehealth purposes.
