Newport Hospital & Health Services’ new facility, River Mountain Village Advanced Care (RMVAC), will begin receiving long term care residents on Aug. 1. The new facility is a result of increased demand for private space, amplified regulatory costs for long term care services and limited availability for Medicaid clients. Hospital staff and leadership recently celebrated the upcoming opening with a ribbon cutting and open house. RMVAC will eventually house up to 72 residents, pending State licensure.
The facility is a representative of its community Public Hospital District #1 voters supported the new facility through a facility expansion bond. And, RMVAC’s décor features local historical photos from a variety of community sources, including private citizens, the Kalispel Historical Archive, Pend Oreille County Historical Society, Preserving Priest River History and Pend Oreille County Library District’s Washington Rural Heritage collections.
