Washington data transparency system prepares for launch

March 28, 2018

Starting June 29, the Washington All Payer Claims Database will provide information to the public on quality and cost of care at Washington providers. Using claims data from insurers, Washington HealthCareCompare will show allowable amounts for more than 80 common procedures at hospitals and ambulatory surgical facilities, and display quality rankings for local primary care practices.

Hospitals have an opportunity in April to review the claims data used in the comparisons. WSHA will host a webinar April 18 to provide information on the review and reconsideration process available to hospitals. For details, contact Dana Pellegrini at danap@wsha.org.

Data from the claims dataset are also be available for purchase for those improving health care delivery. WSHA is evaluating the data set to determine how it can help support the work we are pursuing on access and quality. (Claudia Sanders)
