Gena Ahlawat, RN, MSN, CIC, MHP, has joined WSHA as director of safety and quality workforce. The scope of her role will include guiding hospital leaders in addressing workforce capacity, resilience and safety. Her initial focus will be on implementation of highly reliable nurse staffing committees. Gena is a registered nurse with a background in hospital leadership and management as a chief nursing officer and clinical educator. She will draw from a variety of areas of expertise, including behavior management and crisis intervention, quality improvement, infection control, and violence prevention strategies to facilitate collaborative problem solving of challenging workforce issues.
Gena received her master’s degree in nursing leadership and management from the Western Governors University and her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Southern Mississippi.
