It is my pleasure to share that 45 Washington hospital CEOs, board members and commissioners earned WSHA & AWPHD Health Care Governance certification in 2020.
WSHA and AWPHD launched the program in 2019 to help increase the skills and expertise of those who govern Washington State health systems. This includes hospital executive leadership, members of boards of directors and public hospital districts’ elected commissioners.
Participation far exceeded expectations during the program’s inaugural year. Continued engagement in the second year of the program demonstrates hospital leaders’ ongoing commitment to strengthening their understanding of hospital governance and their ability to enhance board effectiveness.
Forty-five individuals representing 27 organizations earned their Health Care Governance certification in 2020, bringing the total number of certified members to 105 in the first two years of the program.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the entire educational curriculum for 2020 was offered online. Participants must log 12 credits in the calendar year to achieve certification. Each learning hour translates to one credit hour.
