Hospitals across the state kick off safety campaigns

July 13, 2023

Earlier this year, Washington Hospital Services announced that its 2023 Top Performer Program will focus on an important tool used to reduce injuries and create a safer work environment: safety campaigns!

A safety campaign is a targeted approach to help educate employees about safety protocols and procedures, reduce workplace injuries and illnesses, and identify and correct workplace hazards.  Members were encouraged to develop their own safety campaign with formal goals, safety campaign ambassadors, intermittent progress monitoring and reporting, and the all-important safety campaign kick-off messaging to get co-workers working together to achieve their safety campaign goals and obtain Top Performer status.

Nine member hospitals accepted the challenge, and each is hard at work setting goals, crafting clever promotional aids and encouraging co-workers to become involved in supporting their safety campaign.

Member participants include Astria, Coulee Medical Center, East Adams Rural Hospital, Ferry County, Forks Community Hospital, Jefferson Healthcare, Mason General Hospital, Prosser Memorial and Pullman Regional Hospital.

The team at Jefferson Healthcare is promoting a safe-at-home campaign to help their employees be healthy and safe while they are working remotely, and recently held their Kick-off party with games, prizes, and fun!

Other members are busy putting the final touches on their campaigns and will launch them soon. All participants actively encourage their employees to keep safety at the forefront of their minds by using creative and fun activities that focus on creating a safer work environment.

We applaud these participants and wish each safety campaign a great success! (Brian Earl)
