Last session, the legislature passed SHB 2295, which allows for the continuation of hospital at home services and authorizes a regulatory structure for the Department of Health (DOH).
On July 31, 2024, DOH released notification guidance for hospitals seeking to provide hospital at home services.
Consistent with the legislation, hospitals that would like to provide hospital at home services with an active federal waiver need to notify DOH using this Hospital at Home Form. Completed forms should be emailed to the OCHS inbox, and DOH will provide additional information on rulemaking processes and key dates in the coming months.
WSHA strongly supported this legislation, which went into effect June 6, 2024. Hospitals with active federal waivers from CMS may operate hospital at home programs prior to DOH adopting rules (by December 31, 2025).
